Sarah Stobbart
Integrative Psychotherapist & StopSo Therapist
Sarah Stobbart is a BACP registered, trauma-aware therapist, working with sex and porn addiction recovery and trauma-informed care. She offers a personalised approach, tailored to each client’s unique needs, with a focus on helping them break free from destructive patterns, achieve healing, and create lasting, meaningful life changes.
Sarah understands that individuals struggling with sex and porn addiction are not only seeking to overcome their compulsions but also to reclaim their sense of self, build healthier relationships, and move forward with confidence. She works in a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment, supporting clients in gaining the self-awareness and emotional tools necessary to face life’s challenges and make sustainable changes.
Through her integrative approach, Sarah draws from multiple therapeutic models to address both the immediate concerns and the underlying issues contributing to addictive behaviors. She believes that understanding the root causes of addiction, including trauma and unresolved emotional conflicts, is key to creating healthier habits and reducing self-limiting behaviors.
With experience in private practice and her work with Mind, Sarah has gained deep insights into the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Her areas of expertise include working with severe trauma, complex emotional needs, anxiety, stress, depression, and addiction recovery.
Drawing from her experience working with sex and porn addiction, her recent Master’s research explored the topic: ‘Therapists’ perceptions of porn addicted clients’ presentation during COVID-19 lockdowns and the potential implications for the work with this group: A thematic analysis’, for which she was awarded a distinction.
Sarah also works with the partners of sex and porn addicts, exploring areas of betrayal trauma.
Sarah says:
“Taking the step to seek support shows courage. If you are uncertain about whether therapy is right for you, I’m happy to offer a free preliminary phone consultation to explore how we can work together to achieve your goals.”
