Samantha Goldby-Pannell

Samantha Goldby Pannell counsellor

Samantha Goldby-Pannell

Samantha is an Integrative Psychotherapist who supports adults and young people experiencing difficulties with compulsive sexual behaviours, pornography use and sex addiction. She offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can explore behaviours that may feel difficult to control, as well as the emotions, experiences and relationship patterns that may sit underneath them.

Samantha works with clients who may find themselves caught in cycles of pornography use, compulsive sexual behaviour, affairs, secrecy, shame or using sex and sexual behaviours to cope with difficult emotions. Her approach is not simply focused on stopping the behaviour, but on understanding the triggers, emotional needs and underlying patterns that maintain it, while developing healthier ways of coping and relating.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, Samantha draws on CBT, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred therapy and psychodynamic approaches. She is particularly interested in how early experiences can shape beliefs about self-worth, relationships, acceptance and safety, and how these can continue to influence behaviour and relationships in adult life.

Samantha is StopSO-trained and has completed COFRA (Compassion-Focused Risk-Aware) training. She also has extensive experience supporting LGBTQ+ communities through her work with East London Out Project (ELOP), and works inclusively with clients across different identities, backgrounds and experiences.

Alongside her psychotherapy training, Samantha was a qualified teacher with eight years’ experience in education. This gives her additional insight when supporting young people, neurodivergent clients and professionals experiencing stress or burnout.

Samantha completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with distinction at the University of East London in 2010 and is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

She offers therapy both online and in person at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Henley-on-Thames. Samantha aims to provide a space where clients can speak openly about experiences that may have felt difficult or shameful to discuss elsewhere, without judgement.
