Morag Makey

(she/her/hers)

Morag Makey understands that relationships shape our lives, and when trust within a partnership is shattered due to sex or porn addiction, the impact can be devastating. For partners who have experienced betrayal trauma, Morag offers a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can begin to process the intense emotions of betrayal, loss, and confusion. She believes that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most vital factors in healing and works to create a therapeutic bond that promotes safety, trust, and authentic healing.

The experience of betrayal trauma can be overwhelming, and it’s not uncommon to feel unsure of where to begin or what your goals for therapy might be. Morag works closely with you, helping you explore these emotions at your own pace, and together, you’ll identify steps towards recovery. As an Integrative Counsellor, she tailors her approach to meet your unique needs, drawing from various therapeutic models to provide the most effective support.

Morag is particularly focused on supporting clients to rebuild their sense of self and emotional stability after experiencing betrayal. The trauma caused by a partner’s addiction can leave individuals feeling isolated and unsure of their worth. Through therapy, she helps clients navigate these challenges, explore their feelings of anger, shame, and grief, and work towards healing from emotional wounds.

With a deep understanding of how betrayal affects both the mind and body, Morag uses an integrative approach that combines emotional processing with practical tools for regaining confidence, establishing boundaries, and making sense of your experience. Her goal is to help you rebuild your life, redefine your personal boundaries, and regain a sense of empowerment, whether that involves repairing the relationship or moving forward on your own path.

Morag also recognises the broader impact of life transitions on relationships, including changes in career, family, sexuality, and identity. Her own personal and professional experiences allow her to provide an empathetic, understanding environment for clients navigating these challenges. With a background in education and social justice, she brings a holistic, inclusive perspective to her therapeutic work.

Morag offers online and in-person sessions at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill, as well as outdoor walking therapy in East London. She is fluent in both English and British Sign Language, creating an inclusive practice that welcomes clients from all backgrounds and identities.

Morag is also the co-facilitator of the Partners Support Group.

If you’re ready to start healing from betrayal trauma and rebuild your life, Morag is here to support you.
