Guy Falkson
Guy Falkson
Guy is a qualified CBT and EMDR therapist who offers low-cost counselling for individuals and couples affected by sex and porn addiction, compulsive sexual behaviours and relationship difficulties while continuing to develop his specialist qualifications in these areas.
He has a particular interest in helping people understand the patterns that can develop around pornography and sexual behaviour, including the role of shame, secrecy, anxiety and emotional regulation. His approach is not simply about stopping a behaviour, but helping clients become more curious about what may be driving it, recognise triggers and patterns, and begin developing healthier and more sustainable ways of coping.
Guy is also one of the lead facilitators of our Men’s Sex & Porn Addiction Recovery Group, where he works alongside men at different stages of recovery. His group work has given him valuable experience of the challenges that can arise when someone begins addressing compulsive sexual behaviours, including managing urges and triggers, reducing shame, developing accountability and navigating the impact that addiction and recovery can have on intimate relationships.
Supporting relationships affected by sex and porn addiction
Sex and porn addiction rarely affects only one person. Secrecy, broken trust and changes in intimacy can have a profound impact on a couple, and beginning recovery does not automatically repair the relationship.
Guy offers low-cost relationship counselling for couples who want support understanding what has happened between them and exploring how they move forward. This may include difficulties with communication, intimacy, trust, shame and the different emotional experiences of each partner.
His role is not to persuade couples to stay together or to separate, but to provide a calm and balanced space in which both people can begin to understand their relationship more clearly and consider what they need from one another going forward.
How Guy works
Guy brings his established therapeutic training in CBT and EMDR into his work, alongside his continuing training in counselling, psychosexual therapy and relationship work. His therapeutic style is warm, approachable and steady, and clients often describe him as calm, kind and easy to talk to.
A strong understanding of the connection between mind and body also underpins Guy’s approach. Compulsive sexual behaviours, shame, relationship distress and betrayal can all create powerful emotional and physiological responses. Guy helps clients understand these responses, develop strategies for emotional regulation and work towards changes that feel realistic and sustainable.
His practice is collaborative, inclusive and LGBTQ+ affirming, and is informed by GSRD-aware principles. He works with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and offers a non-judgemental space in which sexual behaviour and relationship difficulties can be discussed openly.
Low-cost specialist support
Guy’s sex and porn addiction and relationship counselling is offered at a low-cost rate while he continues further specialist training and qualifications in these areas. This provides an opportunity for individuals and couples to access focused support at a more affordable fee while working with a therapist who already has established qualifications and clinical experience in CBT and EMDR.
Please note that specialist CBT or EMDR sessions are separate from Guy’s low-cost counselling and may be charged at a higher rate.
Guy offers sessions both in person in Henley-on-Thames and online, with daytime and evening availability Monday to Thursday and some Saturday mornings.
Professional memberships: BABCP, NCPS, BPS and COSRT.
