Let Us Help

Understanding Sex and Porn Addiction Counselling

At Cherry Tree Therapy Centre, we have a dedicated team of counsellors who specialise in sex and porn addiction counselling. Each of our counsellors holds a postgraduate degree and has received specialised training in addressing sexually compulsive behaviours. This expertise allows us to provide you with the highest standard of care and support tailored to your individual needs.

Our Approach

Utilising the BioPsychoSocial Model of Addiction, our sex and porn addiction counsellors take a holistic approach to treatment. This model recognises that addiction is influenced by a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. By addressing these interconnected aspects, we aim to eliminate unwanted sexual behaviours and help you understand the underlying issues contributing to your struggles.

Our counselling process involves:

  • Identifying Triggers: Understanding what prompts your behaviours can help in developing effective coping strategies.
  • Exploring Underlying Issues: We work to uncover any emotional, psychological, or relational factors that may be influencing your addiction.
  • Creating a Recovery Plan: Together, we will develop a personalised plan that sets clear goals and outlines the steps you can take towards recovery.

What to expect

Embarking on your journey into sex and porn addiction counselling for the first time can indeed feel daunting, and it’s completely natural to experience some apprehension. Understanding what to expect can help alleviate some of those nerves and prepare you for the process ahead.

Initial Consultation

During your first session, you will have the opportunity to meet your counsellor, who will create a welcoming and safe environment for you to share your thoughts and feelings. Your counsellor will take the time to understand your unique situation, exploring the challenges you are facing and how they impact your life. This initial consultation is a crucial step in building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Open Dialogue

Your counsellor will encourage open dialogue, allowing you to express any concerns or questions you might have about the counselling process. They will explain the structure of the sessions and discuss the therapeutic approaches they utilise. This collaborative discussion will help you feel more at ease and informed about the journey you are about to undertake.

Goal Setting

Together, you will begin to identify your goals for counselling. This could include reducing unwanted sexual behaviours, understanding triggers, or addressing underlying emotional issues. Setting clear, achievable goals provides a roadmap for your therapy, helping you track your progress and celebrate your successes along the way.

Ongoing Support

As you continue your sessions, you can expect your counsellor to provide ongoing support and guidance tailored to your evolving needs. They will equip you with practical tools and coping strategies to help you navigate challenges outside of the counselling room. Remember, this is a safe space where you can explore sensitive topics without fear of judgment.

Confidentiality and Respect

Throughout your counselling experience, your privacy is paramount. Our team is committed to maintaining confidentiality and treating your personal information with the utmost respect. This supportive environment allows you to open up and engage in the healing process fully.

If you have any specific questions or concerns about what to expect, your counsellor will be more than happy to discuss them with you. Your journey towards recovery is important to us, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
